In pursuit of excellence

Laing O’Rourke’s annual Excellence Plus Awards recognise employees who have made the most positive impact on the way the company does business – and rewards four winners with a prize to the value of their respective salaries, 10 per cent of which contributes to a team celebration.

Martin Westbury

Expanded Structures’ Martin Westbury won the Project Leadership Excellence award for his work on the Canary Wharf Crossrail Station – an incredibly demanding project to build a submerged structure under the River Thames, London.

Ratnam Kugananthan

The Engineering Excellence Award went to leading temporary works specialist Ratnam Kugananthan, recognising the extraordinary technical expertise he has brought to some of Laing O'Rourke's most high-profile projects.

James McAreavey

Project leader of the remote Pilbara region’s TPI rail maintenance project James McAreavey received the Health and Safety Excellence Award. James has delivered exceptional performance improvements, reducing the project all accident frequency rate from 17.2 to 4.99.

Mark Platt

Project leader Mark Platt was named winner of the Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) Excellence Award for the role he played in the DfMA schools solution at the Salford & Wigan BSF scheme.
